Learn more about the University Press of Kansas

Interested in publishing with an academic press? Interested in a career in the university press field? Want to learn more about how the scholarly publishing field works? If so, come to a meeting with David Congdon, acquisitions editor, University Press of Kansas at noon Monday, April 23, in the LAS conference room, 200 Lindquist Hall.

Lunch will be provided courtesy of the Department of History, but please RSVP to Jay Price at jay.price@wichita.edu well in advance to get a count.

Those who want to set up a time to meet with Congdon individually are welcome to schedule a 30-minute block of time to meet by emailing him at dcongdon@ku.edu. He oversees the Press's books in political science and law / legal history, including the following series: American Political Thought, American Presidency Series, American Presidential Elections, Constitutional Thinking, Landmark Law Cases and American Society, and Studies in Government and Public Policy.

Whether you have a finished manuscript or the bare outline of a project, he would be happy to meet with you and talk about whether your work would be a good fit for the Press. You can find out more about their work at https://kansaspress.ku.edu/series/.

Congdon also will look at projects in history more generally. The editor-in-chief, Joyce Harrison, handles military history, and his other colleague, Kim Hogeland, handles Kansas history, American cultural studies, Native American studies and other subjects. He would be glad to hear proposals outside of his area that he can pass along to either of them.
