Bell named first associate dean for Honors College

Heidi Bell has been named to serve as the first associate dean for the Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College (https://wsu.news/cohenhonorscollege). Bell will collaborate with faculty and staff across campus to create enhanced educational experiences for the university's most ambitious students and faculty.

She will manage the undergraduate research and creative activity grants program and work to increase undergraduate research opportunities for all students; serve as a liaison to other departments, schools and colleges on campus, as well as to the broader Wichita community; and support college curriculum development.

An assistant professor in the Department of Human Performance Studies, Bell is a triple alumna of Wichita State. She has an established interdisciplinary line of research focused on clinical exercise physiology and orofacial myology, with additional research in innovative development, design and usage of clinical and wearable technology.

Her work has received national and international recognition including peer-reviewed publications, invited presentations as well as a live segment on NPR's Science Friday with Ira Flatow.

She is the Owner / Partner / CEO of three start-up companies, and has coordinated professional network systems to bridge the gap between medical professions and the health and fitness industry in promotion of quality patient care. Bell designed and currently teaches the Honors Collaborative Research seminar and serves as the faculty director for the Summer Research Institute (https://wsu.news/summerresearchinstitute) for high school students.
