Walker named interim director of Wichita State's Hugo Wall School

Melissa Walker, associate professor of public administration, has been named interim director of the Hugo Wall School for Public Affairs, effective Sunday, June 17.

Walker joined the Wichita State faculty in 2006, and has played a leading role in the integration of nonprofit content in the master of public administration degree. Her primary teaching responsibilities include the capstone course, human resource management, and fundraising and financial management in nonprofit organizations.

Walker's policy research explores the intersection of the public and nonprofit sectors, and, in particular, how funding arrangements affect service delivery. Walker has evaluated services for uninsured individuals who have diabetes, for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities funded by Medicaid, and, most recently, for a drug court.

The Hugo Wall School, housed in the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, prepares professionals to make important management and policy contributions in public and nonprofit organizations; expands and disseminates knowledge in the areas of public management, public finance and public policy; and engages communities in ways that serve the public good.
