Community rallies to help Shocker Carl Hall

Former Wichita State baseball star Carl Hall 鈥95 continues his recovery from a June 26 auto accident that left him in critical condition.

He is now undergoing extensive physical therapy and being weaned off a ventilator.

Many Shockers and other community members are rallying to his side to help with his medical expenses.

A general studies graduate, Hall worked in pharmaceutical sales, but was laid off from his job just four days before the accident.

Two upcoming events give Shockers an opportunity to help Hall and his wife, Stacey (Adams) Hall fs 鈥94, deal with expenses.

鈥 The Carl Hall Benefit Golf Tournament Aug. 9 at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan.

The tournament will have two sessions: A morning one starting at 7:30 a.m. and another beginning at 1 p.m. The format is a four-person scramble with a shotgun start. Entry fees for the tournament are $100 for an individual entry and $400 for a team.

鈥 Texas Hold 鈥橢m Tournament Aug. 21 at Wichita鈥檚 St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 645 N. 119th St. W. (Central and 119th St. W). Check-in begins at 6 p.m. and play gets under way at 7 p.m.

A donation of $30 is suggested, and the event offers a first prize of $1,000. Play is limited to the first 150 people registering. To guarantee a seat, pre-register at msstolz@hotmail.com. The fund-raiser is being sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.
