A Salina music teacher is getting a chance to live out his rock 'n' roll fantasy.
Matt Gerry teaches a popular class at Salina South Middle School. Students learn to play the guitar by picking and strumming their way through classic rock songs.
Gerry is a big fan of the alternative rock group Weezer. "As a part of the class, we play a song by Weezer called 'Pork & Beans,' and the reason we play that song is it's an excellent song for teaching power chords," Gerry said. "One day I was on facebook and there was an ad that said Weezer was having a contest. I said 'hey, my kids are playing 'Pork & Beans' already, why don't I send it in and see what happens?"
Gerry learned this week his video won a contest. For his prize, Gerry is going to Chicago this weekend to see Weezer play live.
